Hey there! So I had a wheel bearing start getting noisy, and with my college mindset, I went to the junkyard to get a whole new knuckle for the car in hopes that the wheel bearing would be good. After getting the new knuckle on, I was bamboozled by Honda in the fact that the ABS model civics had a bigger hub than my non-ABS model. This means that my non-ABS rotor is too small, and potentially my caliper (hence why I'm here). My question is, if I were to replace the other knuckle with an ABS model knuckle, and then get the matching rotors, would my calipers fit on the larger rotors? Would this be any sort of an upgrade over my current, smaller, rotors? Thanks in advance.
ABS was only available on the 96-00 EX model which came with the larger 99-00 Si front brakes. You will need an EX/Si rotor, brake pads, and caliper to use the knuckle as is. This is an upgrade since the brakes are larger, so obviously you would want to install the same brake parts on the other side to match. Also if the ABS knuckle you bought is a RH and it came with the ABS sensor I am interested in purchasing the sensor from you.

Just to clarify no US spec 96-00 us model civics ever had ABS including Si models.
If you are in a junkyard in the us and pull an abs spindle it would be from a Canadian or Japanese rhd import. You most likely got a spindle from an ex which is bigger
There are part numbers, and pictures of parts, however if you search for abs delete for 6th gen you will find no results.

The 1993 Civic EX had ABS standard and continued as an option all the way through 2000. The 94 and 95 Civic Si did as well. The 1999 and 2000 Civic Si did not. This is for US spec Civics.
To the OP, yes, you will either have to replace both knuckles, rotors and calipers OR have your front bearing replace on your stock knuckles.

eH.
I know what the parts system says, you can even order an abs control module from autozone.
Search honda tech right now for ek abs delete and let me know how many results you get.
That aurgument works for the '92 - '95 civics, at least to some degree (most Si hatches are 4 wheel disc, non abs, some select '94 Sis are 4 wheel disc with abs), it doesn't work for the '96 - '00s EXs had optional ABS, but all came with rear drums. '99 - '00 Sis came with rear discs (the only USDM 6th gen civics to do so) but no ABS. In fact the only 6th gen civic in north america to get both rear discs and ABS are the Canadian '99 - '00 SiRs, and I still have to confirm that they do indeed have ABS. As far as the EX sedans go, ABS was only optional on manual transmission EXs in '96 it was unavailable for the rest of the production run, it was available on automatics for all years.
Even being only an option for automatic sedan ex models with rear disc I have yet to see a functional 6th gen abs system
Hmmm, it was always said to be a '94 only option, and if I use http://torontohondaparts.com/ it only lists '94 as having an ABS option. Perhaps the US got it for 2 years.
Does anyone know if this applies to the 2001 model as well. I juat bought a knuckle that is for a car with ABS but the car doesn't have ABS. Will I be able to use the knuckle made for ABS? I don't want to have the hub bearings and hub pressed in just to have to remove it and thrn possibly get denied if I have to return the parts
