why is it no possible to install one on 05-09 RL?

is there anything available for 05-09 RL at all? it seems like comletely left out from aftermarket performance world which kinda sucks

Rotrex Supercharger Kit available in 2014

Rotrex J-SERIES Supercharger kit??? WTF? - Page 3 - Honda Accord Forum : V6 Performance Accord Forums

Chances are, there aren't any bolt-on, out of the box setups for your engine/ chassis. There are workarounds for this if you're willing to put in the effort.

im asking about fuel management.
there are few people install it i saw on google images but nothing about the fuel management part

im thinking if its something like the vortech or jrsc kits for b series with vacuum fmu maybe its possible.

theres no rom for RL ecu unless someone figured out how to use the TL sh-awd ecu in RL since its available with k-tuner

The fuel regulator and the fuel system's configuration alone on an RL prevents to use of an FMU. Custom management it is.

Honda did what was in its best interest upgraded its technology to push others to innovate outsiders to raise the bar.. Which means.. NO FMU..

i just got the car few months ago dont know much about this. what you mean about fueling system?
do you have a link or something? im curious now what you mean

so far this car is the only car that lasted more than a month bone stock. even t100 has more aftermarket parts than this lol
i see where you coming from shodan but i belive they did alot of stuff that they didnt have to do

every single part is this cars specific down to lug nuts

the suspension has built in balljoints PITA
almost nothing is interchangeable with other cars except maybe parts of motor
nothing is standard spec
from driving it for few months i belive they purposely made this car impossible to modify.
this reminds me of sony and their memory stick market battle. they failed. and other companies who tried to restrict customers also failed.

not only its impossible to fit an aftermarket stereo its impossible to remove the oem stereo because its 100 integrated pieces

dont get me wrong i think the car is a beast. i love driving it. it has that luxury sport sedan feel. but this is 2016 did honda really expect this car to only last 5 years where people dont want to upgrade to newer stereo?
to answer that, they did. at that time i was still working as a car stereo installer and alot of people came to the shop and were told we cant do anything, your stereo is integrated into the car.
or its gonna cost like 500 bucks just for the parts . they dropped the car back to the dealer and told them to **** off and got a different car that they can install an aftermarket stereo system.
wheels are impossible to upgrade since they are really odd specs down to specific lug nuts
i cant even find wheel spacers in 5x120 64.1mm 15mm thickness. they only make them in 5x114

thats why i aid i have no words to describe this car because its like a very hot girlfriend who is bypolar.

i wanted this car for about 3 years but couldnt give up my del sol type-r this is my favorite body style acura i just wish it was more options for aftermarket

google. RL aftermarket stereo. you will see how ridiculous it is( or you wont because there are zero results for that) i dont know any other car off top of my head that is so impossible to install an aftermarket stereo

What you have to understand is that for many years between 2003-2011, Honda did not expect people to upgrade because the majority of its customer base globally isn't interested in upgrading through the aftermarket; they want the purchase of another vehicle entirely to address that issue.

See, within that year range I just stated, Honda's philosophical concept of "The Power of Dreams" was changing. Instead of robust platforms that were sturdy, sporty, and mechanically over-engineered, they moved their focus to that of Integrated Infotainment systems, and additional CANBUS and multiple-ECM systems. Your car from 2005-2009 was right in the middle of this phenomenon where many car manufacturers saw what the aftermarket offered for vehicles, and decided that instead of competing against, them, they'd acquire contracts with them to make their systems for them.

Because of the fact that more "luxury sedans" with all inclusive "infotainment" systems (HD Radio, Pandora, Bluetooth, etc) were gaining this as a standard, Honda felt that they needed to keep up in order to sell more vehicles. Remember, during these production years Honda was trying to compete against Toyota with just gaining more marketshare in numbers of cars sold, and no longer looked at the wonder history of reliability and durability of the older platforms. It was like an arms race, except with cars. So, that meant that with more accessories for their infotainment systems, and utilizing more ECM-based systems that controlled parts of the car that were normally electro-mechanical or hydraulic (i.e. Braking, SH-AWD systems, Electric Steering, Drive-by-wire throttle, fuel system control etc) , instead of one ECU controlling everything like they were used to, you now have at least 3-10 modules and multiple solenoids that control these systems. That's starting to change to a degree in the last year or so, as accessibility to the newer ECUs are a little easier (that's with all makes and not just Honda), but that's because they need to allow updates in the future even from a dealer (like updates on Windows..) But take caution, all new ECUs have their own set of issues too, where it just may not allow certain changes, no matter what you try and tweak. This is why the standalone is a better option.

So yes, that meant that your stereo was integrated with climate control, steering controls, etc, and that the aftermarket was being kinda "squeezed" out of the picture if you wanted to integrate anything. Now, a few gems came around where they had cages that could hold aftermarket equipment, but you were in for a treat, because that meant changing the climate control system too. Usually, depending upon the company chosen, integration was ok,, but it didn't work perfectly. I have personal testimony with that experience, as I changed my TSX's system to an aftermarket, and I had an installer who had been working on these systems since 1979, and found the right cage, so I was damned lucky.

Now, back to your management issue. Ever since the K-series ECUs became the the norm, its become increasingly difficult to add any "chips" or other aftermarket programs in the stock ECU because Honda, (unlike many of the other makes who were starting to catch up) still used the older processors and boards with their particular code that was becoming increasingly more difficult to access. For the older models before the K series, the stock ECU can only allow so much to be changed, without either attempting to add motherboards or other circuitry into the mix. It's only been recent that many models including Honda, are now allowing "flashes" and other methods of altering ignition timing and fuel trim coding directly. Like in the K-series.

But you must understand that in the end, the aftermarket is still a demand-driven business; Hondata can only do so much, and they see that it's not within their best interest to invest into a platform where maybe 1 in 1000 people may attempt to do what you're planning, they're not going to see an ROI at any time to risk going forward with such a project, especially when there are other companies out there that make affordable standalone solutions (which is what you're going to have to do) to perform what you want. It just doesn't make financial sense. Being "popular" only means increased demand. If that demand isn't there, there's no reason to do it. That's with anything.

The days of fuel return systems using FMUs is just over, as frustrating as it is. With returnless systems, direct injection with extremely high fuel pressure values, specialized injectors and pumps, for the RL, unless you're seriously willing to spend the money, it's just not really done. Even the 2006-08 TLs and TSXs which were even more popular, have some barriers; not as many as the RL SH-AWD, but those platforms are in a completely different class than your RL.

So, as you displayed your frustration in the Engine Management Forum, the verdict still stands. Get a standalone, and learn how that's going to work with your integrated systems, or just call this wrap and start with another engine platform with more support if time, money, & resources will be an issue.

Sorry for the book, but I really believe I had to sort of "bring you up to speed" about how, and why things have changed with Honda's ECM management program over the last 10 years.

No, that has nothing to do with it. Which part of "limited customer interest" and "return on investment" did you not understand ? Almost no one wants to seriously mod that particular chassis, so aftermarket companies are not willing to devote resources to develop the components you desire. They won't even break even. Research found that the top three mods for owners in that vehicle class selected lowering springs, wheels and tires and an intake/air filter... and an exhaust system was a DISTANT 4th place. After that... crickets.

It's a demand based market. Not many people own these, and the ones that do, leave them stock.

Granted, they are now falling into the hands of people who are able to afford them due to depreciation, but if you plan to modify a car, you should do the research before the purchase.

I knew my newer TSX doesn't have a ton of options/mods available....didn't care, as it's my "adult" car, as I already have my turbo shitbox hatch to play with.

For those that have the RL, that's exactly the case. They'll take their bread & water, maybe a little "commissary" now and again, but then, that's it.

Again, we understand its frustrating, but that's how it is. Either ask Hondata about what you're proposing regarding the use and utility of the other SH-AWD ECU systems, or go to the standalone as suggested. That's all you're going to get, I'm afraid.
Come back when you've made a few phone calls and see what they have to comment about it. .

So, what you are saying is the tail wags the dog then. Long ago, companies took greater risk by making items that they THOUGHT would sell. Sometimes it worked well... sometimes it was a bust. Questions by Customer Satisfaction Agents were expanded to include what modifications (if any) the new owner might add. Soon after, aftermarket companies began using this research to limit losses and focus on the products that are desirable to the consumer. Does it mean that some companies refuse to pay for this data and make products that might be successful anyway... sure. Might they take unnecessary risk... maybe. Most don't.

In short... the questions were asked and the answers tallied long before MOST of the products currently available were ever produced. The questions were NOT asked now...

Prisoners consume bread and water because that is what the menu consists of. The questions asked might be which of the two is their favorite...

shodan. what happens to the awd system with standalone? does it still function? im assuming its not functional with aftermarket ecu since the oem ecu communicates with tcm?

its extremely frustrating to drive this beast bone stock

its an amazing machine besides the stereo and lack of tuneable ecu..

after 3 months of driving it i wanted to buy a 2012 RL

after 6 months of owning it i dont even want to look at another "flagship" car from acura again...

its frustrating as ****....i wanted this car for so long only to find out how retarded and purposely non standard everything is on this car

but then again i owned nothing but b series for last 10 or so years that was heaven and i managed to find the most unmodifiable car right after... im still in shock

but i am enjoying the quietest ride to work now except the blown out ball joint that also happens to be non standard part and is buit into a 400 dollar lower control arm...

i think maybe im better off getting the tl-shawd or maybe even a g37x... or some other sedan that i can at least put a turbo on and tune properly

cant wait to go to sema im so getting kicked out by at least 3 of the car audio companies...
most likely pioneer. i have a long grudge against them for somewhat similar reasons

btw JRcivic..
that data is not always acurate...
pioneed introduced the front USB port which according to their research consumers wanted
dolphin animation -honorable mention....

after 2 months on the market. pioneer units stopped selling almost completely.
becasue people didnt like the wires and thumb drives sticking out of the faceplate and they kept breaking off the thumb drives(10 years ago before they got smaller)
forcing pioneer to add a rear USB

alpine used a usb socket on the back of their unit. request of installers...
after few returns and alot of cursing by the installers due to usb cords unplugging and getting bent during install.
alpine went back to cords. short ones and then full length...

Custom wiring and custom tuning will be required for a standalone to run it. Expect those to cost well into the thousands if you're not DIYing

I say leave it alone and enjoy the luxury. If you want to start playing with a sport/luxury vehicle with some punch, look to getting a big motor that has a TRD kit like from Lexus.

yea im thinking about it.

i like 4 bangers though.
most likely will get a tsx this is my daily for now...
a v8 daily is not very great on gas mileage (neither is RL)
but its a very nice drive to work

Exactly. Go to work in the RL. Find a manual TSX to work with (But good luck, I'll never sell mine! ). On a recent search for my sister for one this past year, I found only 1 other manual trans TSXs in 4 surrounding states within a 750mile radius.. (Suffice it to say, they're hard to find in one piece). We TSX owners like to hang onto these puppies for a while. I'll probably never sell it and turn it into an official track car in a couple of years after its retirement. Only one CEL code in 10 years, and that was an ECT sensor covered under the original warranty (about 35,000 miles).

Here's how she sits as of Dec 2016. Still daily driven
