1992 Honda Civic No Start Only Cranks
I have a 1992 honda civic lx 4dr with a D15B7. My ECU is P06. It's all stock nothing aftermarket. I bought it the other day, drove it home(40 minutes) fine no problems. Go out the next day, won't start just turns over and now have a CEL.
So I change the spark plugs, spark plug wires, dizzy cap, dizzy rotor button, and main relay. Still no start, so I tried to jump the code reader plug with a paper clip and also a piece or wire (not at the same time) both didn't work, CEL stayed solid and didn't flash me the code(s). Checked the 18, 24, and 31 fuses. All of them are good. I've also checked my MAP sensor and TPS sensor and have 4.9v to both sensors. I believe my fuel pump isnt kicking on. I smell no gas or hear it priming up when key is turn on(2).
When turning key to on(2) and holding main relay in left hand I can feel it click 1 time but that's it. No priming of fuel pump. CEL is on and stays on.
ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

You kinda answered the question yourself , your fuel pump may be bad , check the wiring first tho you should hear it prime.. check fuel filter too while your at it ..
How do I check the fuel filter? Also tomorrow I'm going to run a wire from battery to the pump to see if it kicks on then it'll tell me if the pump is bad or if I got a wiring problem. But I figured maybe someone cold give me a different route on it. I'm thinking either bad fuel pump, ecu, and/or a short in the wiring somewhere which I hope not cause I see no bad wires from what is visible.
Also thanks for your response I appreciate your help alot!

No problem man , and honestly could just be a loose connection you seem to have the right approach.. as for the filter , you can unbolt it yourself and replace it for like 20-30 bucks even if it is still good.. not many ways to tell if it's all dirty and gunked up when you pull it out just change it , cheap repair. Filter most likely isn't your problem tho , your pump isnt priming , so it's either bad or its not getting power.. check the connections to the ECU, test the pump for power and goodluck man
When you key on and don't crank, CEL on and stays on means either the main relay or the ECU is bad. Even a new main relay could be bad. Take it apart and re-solder.
I have not messed with it today yet, but I have a brand new main relay still not starting. I resoldered the old main relay were I seen a small crack and it doesn't start it either, but I do feel the first click. So I know it's getting power other wise I wouldn't be able to feel it click at all..
I will update after I jump the fuel pump and see what happens, if it does work then would you suggest to get a new ECU?

UPDATE- I jumped the fuel pump off the battery and it turned on! So I now know I'm NOT getting power to it. Any suggestions??
EDIT- I used a multimeter to read fuel pump plug it won't read numbers are jumping around crazy I made sure multiple times that I had good contact with my meter, and also I have continuity in my ecu for fuel pump relay.. so I checked the main relay plug for contunity and they have it except for terminal 7? (All was done with key turned to on (2) position. I'm lost.

it helped when i did mine so i just repleced since it's cheap at about 50 clams.

If the CEL does not go out after 2 seconds of having the key on without cranking, this means the ECU has not booted up. Jumping the fuel pump won't help because the ECU is still in a brain-dead state. It will not fire the spark plugs or drive the fuel injectors.
Do check the ground wires on the thermostat. The whole system depends on those. It is looking more and more like your ECU is bad though. Some people have found that by leaving the key on for several minutes the CEL will eventually go out, and then the car can be started. If yours does that it pretty much confirms the problem is the ECU itself.

Thanks for everyone feed back I appreciate it all, and yes I think it may be the ecu as well. I just went and bought a used one off someone and I'll be replacing it soon as I get home and will update if it works or not! Hopefully it does!
The old ECU might have blown power capacitors; the ones in my 92 DX failed only this last summer. However, mine manifested as no CEL and no fuel pump prime.
Crack open the case and see if any of the caps have exploded/are leaking; it is a very cheap job in parts (about $8) and almost anyone with recap knowledge can do it. Definitely don't throw away your old ECU.
Excellent!

Ill check it out for sure and do you know what would have caused it to that? Or just because the ecu is old?
A lot of cars have problems with them in their ECUs; early Lexuses and a lot of mid-90s DSMs too.
I will mention that when mine failed I definitely didn't have 4.9V to the MAP sensor nor a CEL, but since you've already replaced the ECU it's worth looking at the old one and easy to do so.
In my case it was probably just age. Electrolytic capacitors don't last forever, and even the youngest EG is 22 years old now.

I am fighting same issue on my 1995 del sol. I have been all over this thing, tried 2 new, not used, main relays, pulled and cleaned the all grounds, reconditioned ECU, distributor, (I opened it up, and the pick up case was cracked and looked like it had been cooked inside, needed one anyway) checked tps and map both are with in specs, and both have 4.9 volts. If you leave the key on for a while it will eventually come to life, fuel pump primes and CEL goes out and it starts. Once running its fine, and after its been running, it will restart fine. If left to sit over night, or more than a couple hours, its acts up again. So I think I am left with a damaged wires or Ignition switch is failing. I was avoiding the ignition switch because all I could find was the entire lock cylinder with switch until today. Has anyone experienced this before? Surely I don't have 2 ECUs with the exact same symptoms?!
also when it acts up, CEL is on solid, wont go out. and can't pull codes.
