Help with rough idle/ CEL
Hi guys so I'm pretty new to mechanical DIY, but I decided to try and take my TB off to clean it since my gas pedal was sticky sometimes. Anyways i took everything apart and to my best memory put it back together. Upon a cold start I noticed my rpms stuck around 1000 (normally they go up to about 1700 and slowly go down as he car warms up). The idle was also a little rough kind of like a pulse/surge. And it smelled a little like fuel as well as giving me a check engine light. My instinct was to take everything back apart and to see if I had forgotten a step or connected something improperly. One thing that came to mind now is that I never disconnected the battery and now I'm curious if the ecu needs to be reset or if I'm dealing with some sort of vacuum leak. Any help from you guys would be much appreciated.
its a 99 civic ex, I don't think I did I've been looking for a diagram that says where the cables go but I took a picture before hand so I would make sure I put them in the right places.
The sticky "sensors and wiring" at the top of this forum has the information you need. To summarize the 3-pin connectors on the throttle body:
MAP: One of the wires is solid white.
TPS: Has a red-black wire
Three-wire EACV (automatic EX): Has a solid yellow wire

I connected everything back exactly the way it was. On start up it surges at about 1000rpm and smells like gas. Is there anyway the map sensor could have gone bad or should I just leave the car on? I'm not sure if the ecu needs to relearn everything. When I took the throttlebody off I unplugged everything but not the battery.
