OBD-2 F22b2 sohc non-vtec to jdm f22b sohc NON-vtech oil pump and distributer
Hey guys I was wonder when I do my swap I don't want to sink any more money than I absolutely have to so I was thinking instead of of buy a new oil pump housing will the old one from the blown motor be okay? the rings went in one cylinder and its burning tons of oil and getting serious blow-by. Will th old oil pump be to contaminated to be reliable? and is there a way to just swap the pump gears from the JDM oil pump into my USDM oil pump housing? from what i'm seeing on eBay the housing only comes as an assembly, there is no rebuild kit of any kind, all I plan on doing is a new timing and balance belt everything else obd2 is coming off my old motor, which leads me to my next question about the distributor, I don't know the difference between internal & external coil, and everyone is say to use the JDM internal coil and splice a few wires, and I cannot do that under any circumstance, will my external coil fit and function fine as long as I have the crank sensor on the oil pump? this car needs to pass inspection and emissions so I cant have any codes. Any help is greatly appreciated I know this topic is covered alot but there's to much conflicting info. Some people think the JDM F22B is dohc vtec, when in fact they have all four types under the same name so a JDM F22B could also be sohc vtec or non-vtec as well as dohc non-vtec my JDM F22B engine is 100% identical to my USDM F22B2 sohc NON-vtec, so there will be no conflict with the ECU. I realize I made a huge mistake ordering a JDM engine without doing prior research as to OBD standards but it was the cheapest engine I could find at the time.
