Default h22a4 problems...

hey guys, i have a 2001 honda accord with an h22a4. need some opinions here..

the h22a4 is running pretty shitty. first of all i did an oil change as soon as i bought it on a monday, the following monday i had no oil.. then while driving it for the week i could smell some oil and gas burning through the vents. when the car starts on a cold start, it stalls unless you hold the gas at a higher rpm. i only get maybe 300km to a tank which is pretty shitty. not sure what kinda problems this could be from, if its worth rebuilding this thing or if i should just swap it out and put something else in.. shoot me some opinions

oh yeah on a side note, when i first put it on the road it needed a new battery, its probably been on the road for less then a month.. brought it home and noticed the lights dimming out and the battery light and mainteance light flashing, car wouldnt start after i turned the car off. maybe the alternator?

Compression test to see if the head is warped.

Yes, but not if you have a poorly charged battery for the starter to give accurate readings. Sounds like you bought a pretty worn car. Expect to go through some serious maintenance.

yeah tell me about it. Obviously the guy didn't mention any of these problems to me when he sold me the car. Gonna run a compression test on it tonight I'll post the results. Might put in the alternator I have as a spare for it tonight too

Yeah, you're right about that. It would have been the right thing to do, but that's what happens when you purchase someone else's project that's just trying to (more than likely) use the money to fund another one. He/she wants to replace as little as needed to get the maximum amount out of YOUR pocket.

Good luck with your diagnoses. I have a feeling you'll be fighting mechanical gremlins with this car for a while.
