What is wrong with my car?
why in the **** cant i break 14.xx with my setup?
I have a JDM B16a 5Sp.
ACT Clutch
VAFC
Aem Cam Gears
GSR Fuel Rail
Fuel Pressure Regulator - set to 43 psi
Cam Gears
Skunk2 Intake Manifold
JG 64MM TB
AEM CAI
Civic Si Wheels - Kuhmo 195/50/R15s
Dc Sports Strut Bar
DC Sports 4-1 Header
2.25" straight pipe with Apexi Dunk Muffler
omm i think that is about it
alll this is in a 98 Civic Hatchback that weights 2460 stripped with me in it...

The above is all that really matters. What are you currently running?

Well, maybe if you posted up your timeslip people could tell you what was going on.
Otherwise we'll just assume you have no clue how to drive.
The S2 intake manifold probably isn't too great for your powerband right now w/ stock compression and cams, btw. *shrug*

yeah I'm thinking you're getting to much airor something like that...with the S2 manifold and 64mm TB and basically stock motor.
my friend has a 92 coupe, b16 blah blah blah..ran a 14.9. put on a S2 manifold and could even get into high 15's.
so..umm...that might be it...don't know though

sounds normal to me... the only way you are gonna break 14.xx is to get some slicks or go 1.8L+. 6th gen hatches are way to ****** heavy and not aerodynamic to run fast times.... i have seen 98 hatches with gsrs, bolt ons and slicks run consistent low 14's. thats just the way some **** goes.....
What is your VAFC set at right now??? If it is just zeroed out, you may want to think about removing it and seeing how you run... If you are actually tuning with it then leave it and mabye work on the tuning a bit more. With what you have you should be able to pull atleast a 14.60 I would hope on just baby slicks MT 20x6x14 would work perfectly. Just as Mike (jdm88crx) said you do have a heavy chassis that is harder to move and has a drag coefficient that is worse than say an EG. VAFC's can drastically affect ur times when just zeroed out or inproperly tuned.. I know of people with your basic setups in EK's and they have gotten to about what i said... You need those slicks tho they just let you launch higher then you normally would and grip. With a B16 not having a lot of torque in a heavier car that's what you need. Let us know how everything goes. Peace
ITR/CTR cam combo would drop you a couple tenths
if you have it tuned youll be into the 14's easy.
or if you want you could go with a more agressive cam setup and make GOOD use of that TB and intake manifold.
just make SURE you have it tuned. or it will be pointless to install it.

I agree, get a set of CTR's, and jump on the dyno. You can have every bolt-on performance part made for your motor, but if it's not tuned, your motor is not working to it's full potential.
