I have a 2003 accord and the alarm won't reset. I know the two ways to do it are with the key or locking and unlocking the drivers-side door, but I'm unable to do either. The key with the buttons broke so I'm currently using the valet key, which normally isn't an issue. The outside lock on the drivers-side door just broke today so I had a locksmith get into the car. Whenever I open the door the alarm goes off for 3 minutes and stops and does the same when I start the car. The security light still flashes when I am driving as well. I tried leaving the key on the II spot on the ignition for 15 minutes but this did nothing. Does anyone know how to reset the alarm system without using the regular methods?

 

I want to try to disconnect the car battery, let the ECU reset, and have this fix the issue. The only thing I'm worried about is the car not be able to start after this as I've heard of a few people being locked out from starting their car after replacing the battery. Should this be something for me to worry about or would this be an okay way to try to fix the problem?
