It won't work. First the VTEC-E head has roller rockers and all the others are slider cam followers, so probably what you propose is simply not going to fit.

You really need either a complete set of HX parts, i.e. a true HX, or swap everything (block, head, controls, manifolds) over to non-HX, to have a setup that runs right.

From what I have read the y5 head and y5 pistons were made to each other.

Soo if you put a y8 cylinder head on a y5 block you would suffer a lower compression ratio because of the dished pistons in the y5 block

So you suffer the same fate as all hx models, you stay stock unless you want to do an engine swap.

I believe he wants to switch everything in the y5 head to the y8. What he didn't specify was whether this head will be going on a y8 block on a y5 block.

Yes but you'll need the entire rocker assembly

Yes y5 head with y8 internals I've read some thread here in honda tech that you can swap y5 internals with a y8 and I'm buying a tuneable ECU ,I'm not actually sure if it's recommended to change distributor ,im using it with a y5 block

Some people are saying that the y5 has a better head port than the y8 is it true?. And y5 downside is just the vtec-e and small cam

Both have the same casting so I doubt there is any porting done from Honda

**d16y5 uses the same head as a d16y8, only it's rockers and cam are different SO NO SMALL PORTS ON THE y5**
