99 Civic Hatch with ls/Vtec no power from battery
I have a 1999 civic hatch with a Ls/Vtec. It has a b18 block b16 head Blackworks ls/Vtec conversion kit golden eagle fuel rail. The car is converted to obd1 and had no issues except for me replacing the distributor and some wiring clean up. I recently lost the key and watched a video where they showed how they stole someone's civic and removed the plastic assembly that turns when you put your key in an starts your car. It has a brand new battery and when I tried to start it the lights everything would come on and it would just click and go dead when I would try to start it. So I read to break the ignition cylinder and it should work. I did that and now I'm not getting any power from the battery out. Any suggestions on where to start and what to do to get it running would help.
Ordinarily when you try to start a car and nothing happens, or it only clicks and all the lights go out, you'd suspect the battery is run down or bad connections at the battery, so start there. Turning the switch manually is electrically the same as using a key.
You may also have shorted something out and blown one of the main fuses in the box under the hood.

easiest thing to do is unbolt the whole cylinder, use a chisel and tap the sheer bolt, once it starts spinning its easy to undo, then use a hack saw to put a grove in the bolt head for re assembly. then you can take the cylinder out and either rekey the lock or take the end with the wiring off and use a flat blade screwdriver and turn the ignition that way. but you still need the lock off to be able to move the car.
When everything works until you turn the key and then there's a click and you have no power, IME it is usually corrosion on the batter connectors.
