Default Water Outlet - Use Liquid Gasket?

B18C1 (1996) - the "water outlet" from the cylinder head to the upper radiator hose - is there liquid gasket between this piece and the cylinder head?

I cannot find mention of installing this on the head in the FSM. Online parts stores do not show a gasket to be used.

# 6 in the image below.

Thank you!

I suspect it's not in the FSM as it's put on at the factory and not expected to ever be removed.

I would personally use Loctite 30558 as I know the pressure rating of it is extreme and can more than adequately handle it. It's designed for steam boilers and the like. And it's resistant to most shop fluids. It's susceptible to alcohol so fuel is one thing it's not good for. Or if you don't trust the idea of a non FSM high temp gasket maker then I would say use Permatex "The Right Stuff" as it's the anaerobic flange sealer Honda uses for things like the oil pump. It's designed for machined surfaces that mate together such as that pipe fitting to the head.

I know others will stick with the religious use of "hondabond".

I also use the loctite 30558 for my exhaust joint gaskets after the catalytic converter as I know they don't surpass 600F at the flanges.

Thank you. The machine shop removed the water outlet when the head went in for valve job, I was surprised...

I actually came across reference to the "water outlet cover" in the FSM under water pump!

Yes, they recommend liquid gasket. Glad I found it...
