I just bought a 98 Spec R ITR 4.7 transmission and I'm wondering what parts I should replace on this used 30,000 -50,000 mile transmission before i install it. I plan on replacing the axle and shift linkage seals along with a new throw out bearing. Will this do it for a used tranny or i'm I missing something?

Also is there a Manual Transmission cleaning product i can run inside the gearbox to do some internal cleaning ? I was thinking of running some Honda MTF for a few hundred miles and then changing it out to my normal Amsoil fuild.

 

If you want full peace of mind, especially since you haven't installed the transmission yet, replace the synchronizers with either OEM or carbon synchronizers. Your 30k mile transmission could in fact have low miles but could also have been beaten to death at the track. Better to change it now than find out after you have installed the transmission that the synchros need to be replaced.
