Icon5 New exhaust for my 2000 Civic DX

Trying to buy a new exhaust on Rock Auto and I'm not sure which engine I have, CNG, DOHC, or SOHC? I'm all stock as of now. Any recommendations are appreciated!

Those DX and CX models are SOHC. Not sure what to recommend though, I haven't done any exhaust modifications to mine.

Thanks, I'll probably go with something better than stock but no reason to get crazy,

Doing full exhaust? From the header back, or from the cat all the way back?

you have the same exhaust set up on your SOHC 2000 DX that I have on my 96. I went with the bosal center pipe (aka b-pipe), and a walker quiet flow SS muffler. The bosal muffler was too loud (drone) at highway speeds and I returned it. But the walker muffler is excellent.

And just so you know, walker made the muffler for Honda. When I took off my original is had "WALKER" and "HONDA" stamped on it. Yes I know it's to honda's specs, but the quiet flow sounds exactly like stock! for a lot less $$

The a-pipe from the catalytic to the center b-pipe I went with Honda, but you could try walker if price is something you're trying to keep down. I've always liked walker's products. Bosal was something new I tried and so far (3 years ago) it's still ok. so is the walker muffler.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't going to replace everything as the car has no rust and muffler is my issue. Should I replace the catalytic converter as well, do you know what the life span is?

Converters generally aren't ever replaced unless necessary-- for example having a hole in them or failing emission tests.

ahh.. so it's just the muffler, then just fix what you need to for now and move on. Cheaper that way, yeah the Walker Quiet Flow SS muffler has served me very well. Just don't forget the exhaust bolts, the walker ones work much better than the bosal brand. I tried both. You might want to buy it at advance auto online with their coupon codes can be cheaper than buying it at rockauto! Plus when one muffler came dented/damaged, was a lot easier to return it to the local store than shipping it back. Just a thought.

and like everyone else said, the catalytic doesn't need to be replaced until it's dead, which by then you'd know! lol.. I'm keeping an eye on mine waiting to see when it might die.. so far, it's good. My original died under the extended emissions warranty. Back then Honda had a bunch of them go bad, bad casting of the iron, causing leaks. They replaced them under warranty, love free! That was about 14 years ago and it's still working fine.
