b17 build with itr oil pump
Hi im going to start building my b17 motor. I bored the block to a 1.8l(81.5mm) and using the original head. im putting new internals and getting a port job on the head. i was wondering what timing belt to use if im using an itr oil pump. probably using a b17 water pump too unless there is a better suggestion, but I read in other threads that the water pumps are the same for vtec engines. i would appreciate any info on this or if you can refer me to a thread that can help me out. thanks
Go here, and do some research:
Acuraautomotiveparts.org
I had a very reputable shop (who will remain unnamed) charge me an extra $20 for a "Type-R oil pump", and even came with some BS about how it had different pressure and flow, etc. All I had to do was look at the part numbers to know, without a doubt, the ITR oil pumps are identical to GSR.

thanks ill check it out. yea I read about the pumps and someone mentioned that "all" the 96+(something like that) b series(vtec and nonvtec) comes with the same pumps with higher pressure and flow but the ls had more or less gear teeth? I did look around but I only saw threads of b16 or gsr(b18) with itr oil pumps, nothing about b17. I think the b17 might have a different deck height from the b18 and b16? so that's why I wanted to get some more info before purchasing a timing belt.
