Okay, my old engine had a blown headgasket so bought a other engine but for some reason the old one had a faster feeling then the new one :S

Old engine had like 290km on it and the new one 215km.

New block didn't had a dizzy on it so we swapped that over, now I'm ready something about setting 1st cilinder to TDC before you put on the dizzy but we didn't do that just set the thing right and bolted it down. Car starts up perfect and drives good but just missing some 'oomph' in vtec when compaired to the older engine

Could it be that the timing is a bit off?

If so, anybody got the specs for the timing? It's a D15Z6. Don't know if all D-serie are the same timing wise...

 

maybe you would have been better served just replacing your head gasket from your old engine, either way did you set the new timing with a timing light and jumping the connector?

 

No not yet, gonna do that tomorrow!

But I need to know if the specs are the same for all D-series? Did find a service manuel but only has D16 engines in it :S

 

They are not all the same but at the moment your best bet is to set it to the timing marks on the pulley as you normally would. Until then there's no way to identify if you truly have any kind of issue. You haven't even clarified what engine and ECU was original to the car.

 

FWIW 12 BTDC but you must have the ecu jumper in position first

 

So first need to jump the service connector, then warm up engine (already warm when I'm driving to the garage) then check the timing and standard is 12 BTDC right?

Oh and the car is a D15Z6 from factory and I swapped the same engine in with standard ECU, not chipped or anything like that.

 

If it's really the same engine, then set the timing as you normally would (FYI whether it's 12 or 16 deg is irrelevant since the timing marks don't actually have a number, there's just a notch that you'll see with the timing light hooked up).

Good luck! With all else being equal it has to be the fact that you just installed the dizzy without checking for ignition timing.

 

Definitely set the ignition timing. Also post the CEL codes.
