96 hx cvt converted to manual intake and dizzy
I have a 96 HX CVT that was converted to manual and kind of fucked up job at that
Alright so first I need to find out if I can use any other distributor on the y5 head, ive looked and all post seems to drift off into other topics and never answered the original question.
from what i can tell they just used an ax 96 engine harness and plugged it right into the automatic chassis harness and didn't convert a damn thing
and second they have the original HX intake manifold on with the three wire idle air controller and it's having a high idle not only that but they wired in the orange wire to the 3 wire into the TPS sensor which fried it.
I can get Z6 intake manifold would I be able to slap that sucker on with no vacuum issues?
so im doing the job right I've got to actually get the CVT to the d series manual Mount from innovative not only that but also found the gear selector just taped up underneath the center console so I had to take that out cut it out, run my clutch switch and reverse lights
so im. just stuck on the basic questions, z6 mani? no leaks? and any other dizzy as i dont like the y5 with its special internals

If you dont use the y5 IM and distributor, you can't take advantage of the 'lean burn' mode.
you might as well rip out the engine and put in a y7 or y8 at that point.
What ecu is it even running?

You can't use a different intake manifold, the y5 is made to have valve overlap back into the intake manifold for the egr
The y5 works only in 12 valve mode unless vtec is engaged. You can only run an hx ecu to control the y5, although if you could figure out how to wire in a jdm 3 stage vtec ecu or a civic vx ecu it would benefit my gas mileage goals
CVT to 5 speed swap....custom mount question. - D-series.org
Seems like a pain.

96 ex ecu, so lean burn is already gone egr and everything is still there but I don't care about lean mode and if
if I had more money id buy just a b swap, im just getting it running smooth for a daily then hopefully trading it
off for an ef

It will probably probably run pretty rich and potentially cause misfire codes.
You should be able to run it on the Hitachi dizzy, but a Tec will work as well without changing anything.
Intake manifold would bolt up to it, the z6 intake would just block the egr chamber outlet on the head which you want to do anyways.
It should just run rich at idle but vtec should still work

You either need a complete set of HX parts, or none of them, to have a setup that runs properly. Trying to build a mix and match under the hood you're going to have a Bad Time. The HX is really completely different from the DX / EX.
its already running weird, like i said it doesn't have an hx auto engine harness is has something else which I would suspect is from the hx standered
its running a P2p but has a 3 wire ivac and idles at 1300-1450rpm
just checked and tps still has high voltage so the sensor wasn't bad, as i just changed it, pulled the harness apart
and found the wired the ivac into the map probably
