I have an Si cluster that's around 50k miles. I'm about to drop in a new motor and completely rebuilt everything. Does anyone know how to roll back the miles to 000,000? I know a way to do it, but the digits won't line up PERFECTLY. I just wanna keep tract of the miles on my engine, not doing any sort of fruad. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
it's still fraud for doing it, although I would not recommend doing that.
You might just want to purchase a new cluster, or install your motor on a more evened out mileage so you remember.

Just run it all the way around back to zero, put ur car on jackstands start it, set ur cruise control to 120mph so you are really going 2 miles a minute...... 1,000,000 miles - the 50,000 that is already on it ='s 950,000 miles.. 2 miles per minute x 60 (min in a hour) = 120 miles in 1 hour x 24 hours (day) ='s 2880 miles every 24 hours.... 950,000 miles / 2880 ='s 329.86 days... So on about Oct. 4 next year you would be done... hehehe j/k If you really wanna do it, take out ur cluster and pulse +5vdc into the speedometer..
If you think about it if you could get 30mpg which wouldn't be that hard since there isn't very much friction on the wheels, just a little bit with the air. Say you have an 11 gallon tank so you get 330 miles to the tank.... 950,000 miles/ 330 miles ='s 2878.78 fill ups... A 11 gallon fill here in corvallis for Premium is about $16.17 at $1.47 a gallon... 2878.78 fill ups x $16.17 ='s $46,549.87... Damn that's a lot..... I think it would be wise to drop a DX motor in, you would probably save a bit of money.... Also forgot about oil changes etc. This gets kinda spendy... hehe Latez

Damn, you must love math. You're a weirdo man. lol j/k. Can you explain this quote, I don't get it.

hehe it's all good, I was just bored... What the VSS does on the tranny is, 5 volts is sent into it, when your car is rolling the differential spins the VSS, for every one revolution of the VSS there is 4 pulses of output voltage which is then sent to the ECU and speedometer in the gauge cluster. I don't know the exact relationship between the speed and how many pulses there are but I'm sure if you can pulse 5vdc into the cluster at a high rate you'll get that thing clicking off like crazy. I've never done this before but it should work just fine.. All you have to have is a power source of 5vdc, figure out a way to turn on and off the voltage either mechanically or electrically to create a signal and send it to the cluster.. also make sure you have a ground connected or it isn't going to work at all. FETs will do this electronically but again I haven't really looked into it enough to figured out a way to actually wire everything.. It's just up to what you wanna do. When i think back to all of the friends that i have done swaps for the most common thing to swap out was the cluster, may times with more miles than their cars really had.. It's worth it to get an Si or CTR cluster that have a few extra miles just so you don't have to get the Autometer 5" tach w/ shift light, hehe!! Again it's up to you if you wanna roll them over or get a brand new cluster just because you have a new motor, but it's just not something that most people don't worry about when their swap is done...
