Default Ridgeline Issues?

Hey everybody,

I have a 2007 Ridgeline RTL with 72k miles - had it since new. I recently had the major service done (timing belt/water pump and accessory belts/tensioners) due to age (10 yrs), use (towed quite a bit), and environment (Chicago winters). I had it done by an independent part time mechanic (shade tree-esqe). He's a solid guy, was a tech for Nissan for a few years.

At any rate, I've had a couple issues with it so far:

- Twice it has gone into limp mode and stalled out, then restarts with a P0339 code for an intermittent crankshaft sensor issue. Mechanic went back in, cleaned the sensor plugs, etc. and it seems to be OK now in terms of this issue. Also did a CKP reset at Honda.
- The NEW issue is a whine near what I think sounds like the driver side under acceleration (under load and in neutral/park). Original mechanic says its OK, just an engine noise.

Another independent shop run by a 25 year Honda tech said it was out of time (drives fine, no hard idles/decrease in power, so I don't think this is correct), and yet another tech from the dealer said I should pay to get it diagnosed so he can rip into it and see, but might recommend paying $750 to have them redo all the work so it's warrantied by Honda.

I can't tell if I'm having "maintain-ers remorse" from not going to Honda in the first place, or if there is actually something wrong here. Truck ran like a top for 10 yrs, and now I've had it into a shop 4 times since the TB service for noises and issues I've noticed.

My question:

I'm just tired of all of this - it's less about the money now and more about wanting it to be like it was. Am I crazy to think about paying Honda to redo the entire service just for peace of mind? What if it doesn't solve the whining?

Just need some general advice..... thanks!

Does the whine rise and fall with engine revs?

If you have a mechanics stethoscope, you can check a couple of things:
1) alternator
2) power steering pump

The RL seems to benefit from routine changes of the power steering fluid. It's an easy DIY process if you're so inclined. I know at least one person who changed out the alternator chasing a whine only to discover the problem was tired PS fluid. A change of fluid and his whine went away.

It does.... I'm actually at Honda right now getting it checked out. It stalled out this morning and threw a CEL.
