92 civic 1.5 does not raise 3500rpm

Hi I have a 92 civic 1.5 does not raise me 3500rpm but remains lit but does not turn off 1000rpm reaches 3500

Check the cam timing. If the timing belt has skipped a tooth, it will still run but with poor performance and won't rev over 3000 or so. If you do find the belt has skipped, put a NEW belt on.
