97 TEG Sedan - Happy 20th
Original owner (sort of) meet my one day wife in 1994, she bought "The Acura" on December 31, 1996. OMG, riding shotgun with her was like being on an INDY track with Danica Patrick. Shhhhh, she rarely let me drive it, whatever, I am way better with a stick, ahhh, yeah, that is the reason. lol. I had a Jeep Grand Wagoneer at the time, which way back in the 1990's was a monster on the roads, then SUVs became a Joke, never call a Grand Wagoneer an SUV, just don't.
Anyway, back to the thread:
What I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career, and none of my skills has anything to do with a build/restoration of a 1997 Acura Integra GSR Sedan. The build has been in the planning for a long time, I always said, all I need is one more thing to go wrong and that moment finally happened, twice within one week. First the front window crack finally creeped right across my line of sight. The second is a ($*#&) pickup beat me onto the freeway passing me, WELL that is never happing again. Her name is The Acura, she is going to be 20 years old in 2 months. Money saved up, over the years I ran into a few of the local Honda Club gurus so when the time came, I looked them up and here I am, ready to post.
Just before I turned my keys over to the gentleman who is overseeing the build I had to go to the ACURA dealership just to see what is new. I walked in, said show me the fastest on the floor. There she was, looking all fat, like an oversized, *$(@ I don't know what it was, she was not sleek. I looked in the window, asked if she came in a stick, he said they did not make manual anymore. And I left, lmao off, who wants a fast car without control of the clutch, you're kidding me right!?! 97 TEG we love you, enjoy your time at the Spa.
So, I am sitting on a ton of great Acura stuff I think most of you will be really interested in, some from the original purchase, some from the restoration/upgrades she is going thru as I blog. I have been reading the forums for awhile and paying attention to what gets you forum readers RPMs going into the RED zone, and I think I have most of what you will enjoy. We did have her on the Dyno before we started, posting soon. The shop where she sits right now says "she will be fast", the crew there says good luck seeing anything like they are building again. We shall see. I was there today, took some photos which I hope to post up tonight if I can figure out how. My scanner is out for the items from 20 years ago I have, you really old school gurus will enjoy them, especially if I can get the original brochure to lay flat, it was in a file, blah.
So, when The Acura was purchased, the only changes made where the LS rims looked better (they are on the way to another state to be chromed), and the paint color selected was Black Currant Pearl (which on most of the hood, roof and trunk has vanished to reveal purple. Almost every piece of rubber on the cars exterior is approaching critical. THE ACURA has NEVER spent 1 day in the shop in 20 years. Last winter I had to replace, in my driveway, in the snow, the hydrolic clutch cylinder after burning past semi's on the flatland in 4th, she might have been to old for that, but it was fun, barely made it home after I hit the city limits and my RPMs came down, pressing on the clutch was funky (leak). Was about to pull out the air intake and clean it as my RPMs kept dropping at stoplights. No need to worry about that now.
She will be all dressed up with all the highway she can find soon. The Acura has treated her family well over the past 20 years, now it is her turn to get some love back. Back on the road ready to be the Queen she always has been. I miss driving her already, have to drive my not fun Jeep Renegade, ok, its fun, but it is no INTEGRA, SIR!
Alright, figure out how to load some pics. For Specifics on the restoration, I am going to give the shop owner this site also then you can hear it from the source.
Thank you all very much, reading all your threads over the past year helped make this project happen.

Some pics: The Brochure was larger than my Scanner. I googled 97 Acura Integra brochure, but tell you what brothers, I did not look hard but what is online is not what I have. Happy to get it professionally done if there is a need.
file to big for the brochure one pager, accessories. I will work on that one. It is pretty also. btw, the brochure is like a Playboy Pin-Up with fold out 3 page pictures of this fine machine. whew. and moving on: The Acura portable flashlight. new batteries, didn't work, maybe fix it, maybe not. probably not.

The interior is still in good shape, all original with the mats, not touching it. OK, couple plastic clip on pieces, have them, crazy glue? lol. Give it a solid cleaning post build.
