Default having VIN #'s hidden in the Registry Data

We are finishing up the Regiistry at ITRCA and shoudl be done in a few days. I am trying to think of all possible uses the database might have and what goood use we coudl put it to.

I am curious how many people would have an issue putting their VIN # in the database to match with their car number incase there is ever a question.

This would be HIDDEN, non displayed data that only you coudl see and that an administrator coudl dig out of the database if there was ever a question. The only purpose would be to match totaled/stolen R's with no arm rest with their old number.

Thoughts? I coudl easily be missing a security issue but please don't let pure paranoia run you off from the idea that this is the best opportunity to catalog everything about the car.

Trey

not sure what it could actually be used for other than having a central database of VINs and badge numbers. In my case, I know my VIN, but I dont know my badge number so I think I would be SOL.

Not sure if anyone knows a special ITR portion of the VIN sure. If I have to run every VIN not sure.

The new registry will email me with each new entry so I can review it. We are also adding rules that will require it to match a logical criteria. USDM 98 R # 2000 is not feasible. We will rule it down as much as we can.

Any suggestions on that note are welcome too.

and I will reitterate that this is for database purposes ONLY and will NOT NVER NO HOW display to anyone but you for your car. And if it is ever needed I coudl pull up the database and based on a users name retrieve a VIN # if needed.

As long as the public doesn't have access, I'd be fine. This could serve as a precautionary measure to keep the fake Rs out of ITRCA.

dumb question, yes....but why keep out fake "R"? what if someone had imported a Type-R from another country? Would this system still work? What if you have a B18C5 in a 1998 GS-R? What then?

It will work for different R's from different countries. It will NOT be setup for hybrids of anykind.

I will leave the screen name out but:

"i have a 91 integra im puting a b18c5 or b18c1 in. i wanted to use as many type r parts as possible, and was wondering if a type r wing will fit."

Now if that aint a stunna that what is?

Let keep these nice peeps out of our home, please.

I'm pretty sure the 31 after the DC2 in the VIN is what distinguishes it from other Rs, at least it's distinguished this way in the NADA books.

Yes I sent him over to http://www.g2ic.com. We should be polite but not foster that stuff.

Definately down as long as it is safe. I do not know how S2ki.com manages it but they are safe...

I would have no problem with it as long as the public does not have access to it.

Even though I think Trey is a closet sTuNNa.
