So my car has been sputtering a bit, and the check engine light came back on, it says it's the cyp sensor. I found out I have to buy a new distributor or rebuild mine, so I bought a new one, thing is I put the new distributor on and it runs the exact same as the old one, so im kind of stuck.. What should I do next? Any help is greatly appreciated

 

Did you clear the code ? Recheck for codes. How do the spark plugs look ?

 

The only code is for the cyp sensor. Spark plugs look good. Do I need to clear the codes after I install the new distributor or before? I guess I thought that once the new distributor was on the code would just go away

 

On some codes it will go away after some driving but it's best to clear it.
