Car misfires,popping through the TB?
Greetings, i have a 94 accord lx and recently while i'm driving it, it misses while gaining speed. Under WOT between the shifts it sounds like it's popping or
backfiring under the hood. Changed the plugs, cap, and rotor so far. Still missing while gaining speed. Any suggestions. I'd like to figure this out without taking it to honda or other garage. Help!
Thanks...

I guess it's possible, bad intake valve. If it was would the missfiring be all the time?
It idles smooth and at low speeds it seems to be ok. Is there a way to check out
the valves with out taking the head or valve cover off?
Thanks,
jc

When you shut the car off do you ever hear air/exhaust leak out of the intake? My car is missing like that too and I'm pretty sure it is the intake valves. I'm in the process of pulling the engine now and I'm gonna pull the head off as soon as it's out.
I dunno if this helps ya any, but mine was popping and misfiring pretty bad (only at idle though), and it turned out to be the distributor itself. Replaced it with a junkyard one and it completely fixed it. I have no idea how to check it though, especially those electronically controlled ones (mine I could hear the broken centrifugal advance springs rattling around in there). Just a thought....

what exactally are the intake valves?

I'm not talking about a pop or a fart. I'm talking like a lot of air. My car even made a moaning sound out of the intake at one point. It was when I put that bad timing controller in and it screwed everything up.
i had the same problem , got a used distributor ; problem fixed! my oil ring was leaking, i think the sensors ( tdc/crank/timing or somthing ) were jacked, wiring was open ; well it lasted for 12 years
I noticed that the distributor was making a ticking-knocking noise. Anyone have a used one laying around that they would part with? The salvage yards around here don't have any distributors forsale.
That has to be the problem.
Thanks everyone for the advice.
