'did a search and kinda confused
i sold my motor (93 civic dx) to a friend and im helping him do the work on his 88 crx dx to convert it to mpfi. we've got the motor in, tranny, and all those things
---do i need a new ecu for the conversion? if so, which ones can i use? i was on the hybridgarage site and it didnt mention anything about getting a new ecu...
thanks for helping a noob on this..

if you have manual tranny, make sure you get ecu for manual - fuel mapping in auto tranny ecu is different to account for the load from the torque converter - will cause the motor to idle fast and run rich - probably the cause of a lot of high idle problems that i see posted. depending on the ecu, you can tell by looking at the the sticker on the outside where it will say AT or MT - if it is not on the sticker, pop the case off and it will be on the circuit board.

Are you trying to use the injectors off of the 93 dx? how about the distributor? If your staying OBD0, You'll need ALL of the following from an 88-91 Si or EX (or the 86-89 teg):
ECU
Injectors
Distributor
Injector resistor box
engine wire harness to steal the plugs off of
If you want to use your '93 injectors and Dizzy, you'll need an OBD1 (92up) ECU, and an adaptor harness (people on this site sell the adaptor harnesses, do a search, there's several posts on this) You'll most likely need the 93 engine's harness as well.
If you're goal is to just get the CRX running and on the road, you can use the old crx dizzy, Intake mani, TB, Injectors, and ECU, and leave it DPFI. But you're not going to see any more power out of this motor, just a newer, more reliable engine.
