any auto parts store should carry one.
make sure you use it like this:


Dont put it around the boot

 

heheheh... has nobody learned the we-todd way of doing it? All it requires is the end of a half inch ratchet and a jack

 

Before you ask...

1) take of tire
2) Remove pin
3) loosen castle nut
4) jack up hub & assembly
5) place handle/end of a half inch ratchet between lca and the ball joint (see picture below)
6) lower jack
7) drink a beer cause you are done

Place the handle in here, just like the picture above.

Still suprised no one just unbolts the arm and fork and pushes the axle under the fork..

I got pissed off at the ball joint, so I just started unbolting things..

 

i am trying to look for the same ball joint remover that is in the helms manual, but i keep finding other types. can anyo one help?????

 

i use a freagin hammer....... i dont know why, i guess i wont use it again cuz i kinda hammered the threads on me, now i have to spend extra time fixin that crap

 

are you that dense? follow assdime's instructions.

 

I helped out on a BBK install onto an EG yesterday and learned a trick.

1. remove cotter pin
2. remove the nut
3. take a BFH and whack the side of the suspension piece, <u>not</u> the thread itself. The b-joint will pop right off

Not to hijack this thread, but does ball joint remover = pickle fork?


Pat, who used a pickle fork and a RBFH (really big fuggin' hammer) to replace the drag link on the Scout

Seriously, you can do the we todd method with no risk, no extra tools and very very little work. oh and you can drink beer while doing it

 

This method also works if you prefer drinking Deer Park while working

hey listen here fuckface, the only reason i want to remove the b-joint with the b-joint remover is because that is the only way i know to remove it. i am worried that if i try to remove the b-joint any other way and might f*ck something up.

 

Ahh I see. So therefore, learning a new, easier way is simply out of the question? Do you realize how idiotic that sounds?

I've got Deja Vu reading this thread, somthing about the wetodds replies.

 

I used a 22 mm open wrench "sideways".
I had to persuade the ball joint to let go with a few hammer shots on the wrench (we all don't have sunshiny weather all year long...) but it did work
