noise coming from stick shift?

My 96 Honda civic d16y7 has noise coming from the shifter. It's making a grinding/rattling noise. When i change gear it doesn't grind though. It could be the clutch is running out.

If the noise stops as soon as you touch the lever without even pushing it in or out of a gear, it is just the bushing where the lever goes through the floor.
