I did search I just wanted to double check and be sure that this is right. Is this how RC injectors should fit on a Z6 manifold? Then use washers to make up the space where the fuel rail bolts down.

In the second pic should there be an O-ring on the area circled?

 

Assuming that the injector seals are installed in the injector bosses in your first pic, and the injector is sitting flush against it... then yes, use some washers/spacers to tighten the fuel rail down where it is in your pic. Second pic... no, no o-ring is necessary in that application.

 

yep the stock injector seals are in the manifold. I thought it was right just wanted to make sure before I put it all together.

Are you sure the top of the injectors have been machined to fit Honda fuel rails? It doesn't look like it. Compare the second pic you uploaded to the ones you have. Look at the area where the red arrow is in this picture. Maybe it's the angle of your picture, but I just though I'd check.

 

This is my actual injector. It fits snuggly into the fuel rain. It's an AEM rail. The base sits flush onto the seal on the manifold but it doesn't sit in the seal like the OEM injectors

 

You're fine. In the first picture it didn't look like it was machined for Hondas.

Thats how they are designed to fit. The sit ontop of the intake manifold and the fuel rail keeps them in placed when bolted down. I had rc310s on my stock fuel rail and usdm intake manifold.

 

so why do people bother boring out the seals?

 

Likely because someone incorrectly suggested that they do so. If you bore the seals out, the injector would essentially drop all of the up the neck into the port until the main part of the injector body rests against the injector seal. This places the fuel injector too deep in the intake runner and thus reduces the efficiency of the spray pattern and creates an obstruction for air flow through the port. The proper installation of the RC type fuel injector you have pictured is to place the first step of the injector on the inner top edge of the fuel injector seal. This seems srong because there is very little contact, but it is in fact correct.

 

Now I remember. I went through this about 14 years ago after I bought an ITR manifold and B18C5 injector seals for my B16A. I was either using RC310 or RC440 injectors at the time. I remember that the ITR seals were too thick. I bored them out with a Dremel, but wasn't happy with the result, so I bought different seals.

 

Try it out. If it leaks than you need to seal it better.
