Odd popping sound under acceleration 2001 CRV
Thanks in advance for your time and review!
Bought my daughter a 2001 CRV and all had seemed well, until under acceleration in 1st-2nd gear today, sounded like air popping at high rpm (3000-4000), almost like potentially an exhaust manifold gasket leak. Once the car shifts into 3rd gear and the rpm drops, the sound disappears.
I thought the engine would replicate the sound in park at the same rpm, but it doesn't seem so.
The engine loses no performance when the sound happens, it is just mildly disconcerting. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!

easiest thing to check for would be mounts, the shifts in lower gears might cause a swing in the engine might be a broken engine mounts, if not that maybe check the spark plugs if its really an engine niose those are the first 2 things i would check then, look underneath and check your exhaust piping
