Are stock ITR springs "progressive springs"?
What are progressive springs?
Are stock EK civic springs progressive then? I measured the stock EK springs, they are 1.25" higher in length for the front springs, and 2.5" higher than the stock ITR springs for the rear.
Any help will be appriciated

Yes the ITR springs are progressively rated, only the rears though.

Progressive springs are springs that have varying spring rates as they compress, blah blah blah...

you get the idea.

The rears are progressive and the fronts are linear. (I could be wrong)

Progressive builds resistance as it compresses. Linear has a constant rate.

What does that mean? "varying spring rates as they compress"..."builds resistance as it compresses".. What effects does this have? Is it the reason why the rear ITR stock springs are much shorter than other OEM civic rear springs?

It means what it means. More compression, increased resistance.

And example would be ...

When compressed lightly (say, over a small bump), the softer rate portion of the progressive spring will give easily and not transmit as much back to the shock/frame so you'd get a softer ride. During more aggressive manuevers, the spring would be compressed more and the higher rate resistance would be in effect (so that you don't bottom out or anything).

So basically, this is a very good thing for a normal city driving car, right?
So this will only happen in the rear? since the front springs are linear?

Spring rate is the amount of force required to compress the spring some unit of distance, e.g. a 350 lb/in spring requires 350 lbs of force to compress it one inch. For a progressive spring that number is not a constant, it increases as displacement (the amount the spring is being compressed) increases.

now I'm confused, are the progressive springs the rear springs or the front springs of the ITR?

Just the ITR rears are progressive. Even then, they're not as progressive as most aftermarket springs.
