cabin harness question
As far as i know the only thing that would be different is the extra plug for cruise control. And also the location of the 3rd brake light plug, (gsr spoiler has a 3rd brake light on it). In addition, an extra plug for the moonroof subharness.
All of these wouldnt cause a check engine light tho or any problems. And the 3rd brake light plug would be easy to relocate to the rear hatch 3rd brake light area.

I used a 01 gsr harness to rebuild my old 01 type r and it worked fine. Only difference it had was the cruise control stuff and the sunroof wiring other then that it's all the same.
AFAIK the cabin harnesses are all identical across all model ranges. All the accessories, like the sunroof, cruise control, fog lights, etc all have a brown plug. The unused ones are taped up with a clear blue tape to the harness. I found everyone of those brown plugs searching for the one for the fog lights, which by the way is all the way in the top corner, on the drivers side.

The type r cabin harness is going to have a different plug for the srs reel . It is a one wire vs. the gs , ls , & gsr models with cruise control. The rs would have the proper connectors at the airbag for the srs reel and no vtec wires . The cabin harness for the itr has a round pin connector for the evap purge on the 98 and the 2000-2001 gets the traditional black connector for the other models. The gsr models have sub harness that comes off the shock tower plugs for the evap plug. I am not sure on the ls version . You also have your ob2a / obd2b variables. The tach and other stuff may not work without modifications if you are using mismatched harnesses at the engine bay.
The harnesses vary across years and models:
-ODBIIa vs. ODBIIb
-Sunroof vs. None
-None-R ABS vs. ITR ABS
For rebuilds/etc., one should need to switch to an entire matching harness set for chassis, dash, etc., as the plugs may vary.
