New RSX owner need help
Hey there everyone figured id say hello and ask for advice, I just aquired a 2006 RSX Base Auto with 99k miles on it vivid blue pearl and in good shape.
I was driving it home yesterday from the dealer at interstate speeds after a hour or so the CEL came on and went into limp mode, made it home and me knowing how sensors work didnt freak out or any of that stuff I just threw it into manual and kept it under 4k fuel cut off.
I put a scanner on it, have access to a good shop one and popped P2646 / P2647 Rocker arm code vtec malf we cleared it and it cleared limp mode, Of Course after researching what I could I know this is related to VTEC solenoid and the Oil Pressure switch on the solenoid. Ive drove it a few time about 10-15 min away and back home with no CEL again so it has to be at warm temps to cause it.
Im getting ready to change the Oil to 5w20 Mobil 1 Full Syn, Replace the Vtec Solenoid, Put a new Belt and new plugs in it, and clean the vtc screen behind the power steering pump, anything else I should look for that might be causing this malfunction tomorrow while im doing all this ? Oil levels are normal no oil leaks that ive found and its too early to tell if its burning any oil as I just got it... Ill also add that the car was setting on a dealer lot for 200+ days and that could be a cause too.
Im not too worried as I got a great deal on the car but just wanted to make sure im going in the right direction with fixing things. Thanks !
