Driving along the other day when I rolled down my drivers side window. When I went to roll it up I heard a crack sound from inside the door and the window refused to go up, though it did go down. Later it would not do either, though I could hear the motor running it was not making healthy sounds.

I now have the door panel off and the guts of the door exposed, and I notice that I cannot even push/force the window all the way up because the cable, which is very slack when the window is retracted fully into the door, because taught by the time my window is 3/4 the way in the 'up' position, Anyone here have any experience with this, and what my next step should be?

You need a new regulator, the cable is jammed either at the motor or at the "slider" end because of damaged gearing, $250 from the dealer, $175 from on line dealers and around $30 from a bone yard, [PicknPull] 94

 

Ok so for now I suppose I should just cut the cable and jam my window up with a piece of wood or something.eBay quotes my $45 for a new regulator so ill just order one. Thanks!

 

Yes you could cut the cable and jamb the window up, it is what I do, I use a broom handle cut to length to prop up the glass.
$45 for a new regulator is real good, but the then again you know the saying, "you get what you pay for", do you have a link for that regulator?
I could not find one at that price on eBay. 94

 

Just use some thick tape and tape it up from the inside for the time being.
