Default Axle question...please

Hello! Thanks for reading my thread. I have a bit of a situation going on. I have searched buy haven't gotten any clear answers. I have an 88 crx if that I swapped in a 91 si engine and 89 si trans. I replaced the passenger side axle before driving it the first time. (Still using it axles and brakes. I plan to go with si brakes when I find a set) but the driver side was fine. Decided to change my axle seals. Ended up pulling the bearings out of alignment on the driver side inner boot. Got a new boot just to find out after opening the old boot that one of the bearings was destroyed. Obliterated is a better word. Went to Oreillys and picked up a remanufactured (23spline) axle. Didn't get a new one due to changing to si hubs and whatnot fairly soon. And now I am not sure if I have the axle in all the way. I know there is a small gap between the axle cup and the trans, but this seems excessive. My passenger side is the same way, I don't know if it was that way since I put it in or not. They are out about the same amount.

I have included pictures with me sticking a pretty skinny Phillips head in the axle gap. The picture with a large blue spot on the axle is the driver side with the axle coming out to the left. Just want to be sure its good to drive on. Thanks again!

Ps my hubs and ball joints all line up perfectly.

It looks fine to me, however if it leaks, not enough. Seriously, was just under one of mine, looks fine. If you have a concern, go very slow initially, If it feels fine, just drive.

Thanks for the reply! Put fluid in and both started leaking. I think the C clip is too large...

Place a piece of wood like a 2X4 up against the rubber boot on the cv, then give the wood a good whack with a large hammer to finish seating the cv axle in the diff

Also, have you replaced the seal on the wet side of the transmission? It could be damaged. Also attack like theotherchris stated, the fits all units may take a little more pressure to seat.
