Hi I have a 97 ex coupe with a d16y8 and yesterday I went to turn on the car and it made a noise and wouldn't crank. Then my buddie came by he tried to jumpstart and still did the same thing. Then he said lets push start it so he pushed it and I got it to start like that. Now this morning I went to try if it would turn on and it did just fine so I'm having trouble seeing what it is starts or the solenoid or something else

 

Remove the battery and have it tested at a local auto parts store. If it tests good make sure the terminals are clean

If the battery tests good I would also bring the starter to the autoparts store to have it tested

 

might just need new solenoid contacts, cheap and easy fix.

Also clean/tighten the G1 and G3 ground connections.

 

What was the noise you heard? If it was a loud click from the starter but it doesn't always turn, you probably do have worn contacts in the starter. If you hear various clicking / buzzing noises inside the car that is a dead battery or bad connections or grounds.
