Default No start, 1 click

Hey everyone, car is a 97 EX coupe. 5 speed trans.

Went to start the car today after work, it would click once and not turn over. I grabbed my DMM and the battery was at 12.64v so that's ok no problem there. All electronics we're OK, no dim lights, nothing like that.

I went to get a hammer to tap the starter but before I did that I tried once more and it fired right up. I got the one click no start about 5 consecutive times.

Any ideas guys? Same problem happen to you?

Any info would be great, thanks!

Sounds like a bad starter but it would be wise first to make sure the starter wires are tight and not corroded. Do the same for the battery ground wire.

Yup, sounds like a bad starter. Just for future reference, just because a battery shows 12 volts doesn't mean it has the amps to fire up the car. I understand that most people don't have a load tester and a quick volt reading is better than nothing but just don't let that fool you in the future.
