Default d16z6 - valve cover doesnt say Vtec

Hey everyone i just started on this website there is one question that has been bothering me and i cant find anything about it that is reliable. So i bought this d16z6 to be swapped into my 90 hatch, well the guy said it came out of a 94 del sol si. Well the thing that is bothering me is the valve cover doesnt say Vtec and ive been reading that only the 94 and 95 valve covers said vtec. so does that mean mine is a 93 d16z6? If someone can confirm this it would be must appreciated!

What does it say on it? Is it a Honda logo or does it say HONDA in big letters?

It just has a big H on it. And right on the front where the tranny bolts to the block, the blok says d16z6

Below the "D16Z6" engine code there is a 7-digit number stamped on the plate. What is the first digit on the left ???

I believe 92-93 d16z6's didn't get the "vtec" valve cover. The 94-95 did say vtec.
Source, I have a 93 d16z6 that just has the Honda badge on the valve cover

First digit is an R, does that mean it came from a Type-R?

it isn't all year based. del sol's were oddballs with the valve covers, so were sedans.

No, it was definitely year based, you're just pulling some bullshit response out of your *** to make the OP feel better about buying some crud covered piece of **** engine under the assumption that it was a slightly newer crud covered piece of **** engine.
