Default High Flow cat question

Heres my setup: Injen intake, b16, DC 4-2-1 Header, Stock cat, Greddy mx exhst.

Would there be a big difference if I used a high flow cat? Worth the money?

Thanks for the info-

High Flow Cat or Test Pipe?

High Flow cat, yes there would be a diffrence. Also it is good for passing say a test where they visually have to see you have a cat.

Test Pipe, this would be my choice to go with, un-restricted straight flowing. a 2.5" test pipe, bloted up to a 2.5" exhaust would be a nice setup for that. 1 draw back, the sensors must be tricked into thinking they are reading the right O2 levels

Hell yeah it's gonna make a difference. And it's worth the money. You have a nice engine. Nice header, and a tight exhaust system. And stuck in the middle of all that is a stock cat. It's over ten years old, probably all clogged up. It's restricting the flow of your exhaust gases. Definitely get a hi-flow cat. Or a straigh pipe. That's what I have. I have a b16, Kamakazi 4-1 header and a custom 2.5" header back exhaust system. I know, I know, your probably thinking Kamakazi??? That was what the car came with. Next month I am putting on a DC sports 4-2-1 SS header.

Don't listen to him, I have a Catco and that badboy has been in use for more than 6 months and I have no problems. Maybe he got a bad one or something but everyone else I know who has them has had no problems.

I've got a Catco to, I just did it because I was doing the whole exhaust, the stock cat had 164k on it at the time so I was definally a good idea to replace it. Overall it does the job, right now something either on the cat or near it is rattling (probaly a heat shield) and we noticed compared to my stock cat, the catco pipe was EVER so slightly bigger in pipe diameter than stock. Again I don't know how much power its really worth but i'll take it

Will putting straight pipe from header to muffler effect the sound? By that I mean will it be considerably louder without a cat? I just bought stock exhaust for my car because it has none... but i didn't get a cat with it! Also, would it cost much to have the stock exhaust run to the cat?

b.t.w. If anyone here has one.. I'll buy it for $20 if it is still in working condition....

I really couldn't tell any difference when I had my straight pipe from my hi-flow CAT that I have now...

Most hi-flow cats aren't much quieter than a test pipe when your at WOT - but there usually is a slight difference.

I have a catco in mine, and I have no complaints! It works perfectly and I pass emissions with plenty of room to spare. I have heard that carsound highflow cats are pretty nice as well, perhaps better flowing than the catco.
