Default boring a 1.5

so I may have to rebuild my motor due to a dead #2 cylinder. I have a few more tests to do over my lunch break, but so far everything is pointing towards no compression. anyways, if someone were to take a D15B1 block and bore it to 1.6L, could they make a D16A6 out of it? or are there different sensor spots and what not? just weighing options...

There's nothing different sensor wise on the physical block. I think the bigger question is have you done the math to determine how big of a bore you'll need to get up to 1.6 liters of displacement? What are your expectations for doing this? Do you understand the major difference between the D15B1 block and D16A6 block with respect to displacement?

no expectations. just a simple question. if it was an easy enough ordeal I might entertain the thought a little bit more. but judging off your response it would be a pointless task that would probably take more work and money that just buying a D16A6. thanks

I couldn't say it is or it isn't pointless, that's why I was asking what your expectations were.

I was just curious if it'd work. if its even worth it... I'm not looking for power. just thought that if I was going to rebuild the motor id do something other than stock. I've been wanting to drop in a D16A6, but I thought that if I could build my own with the block that I already have, maybe thatd be cool. that's all

You'd need new pistons, which would probably cost more than a d16a6 lol.

ok, here is an unrelated, yet kind of related, question. the other day im driving out to the bar and im on the interstate when all of the sudden I notice my car sounds like a Subaru and not accelerating. upon inspection I noticed that my distributor cap was cracked. no big deal, I throw on a new one.... but its still misfiring. so I grab a new rotor also cause I noticed that there was a screw chilling in the bottom of the cap. (at that time I didn't know what this screw was or where it came from) I found out that the screw was what holds the rotor in place. so obviously it fell out and the rotor smacked it around a bit causing the cap to crack.... my question is this, is it possible that it knocked the timing off and that's why I still have a misfire?

Only way your ignition timing would be affected is if the distributor was/is loose and moved OR your mechanical timing somehow changed (skipped a tooth).

D15 is a short stroke d16.
