I live in california and i was wondering if i were to do an engine swap to my current car.. for example from my f22 engine to a h22a engine, would i have to register the car under a new engine? What paperwork would i have to worry about and stuff like that.. just need to get know this better

 

None, just make sure you can prove the motor is not stolen. Ask your Insurance company if you would be covered for the motor if something happened.

 

I think, but am not sure, that the engine you are planning on swapping into your car has to be the same year or newer, because of polution controls.

 

yes it does. to keep it up to CARB standards for your car it needs to be the same year or newer

i did that swap and i didnt have to register anything. I didnt even tell the guy that I had a different engine and it passed emissions with flying colors. I live in Maryland though.
