My son just cooked my F22B2...HELP
How tough are the lower ends of these motors?? He ran it out of oil. Got hot enough that the cam seized up (turns a real pretty blue BTW). Spun the key way right off the timing belt gear on the cam. Bottom end still turns over. Should I take a chance and just throw a new head on it? How well do the rod/main bearings hold up when this happens?? The water temp was fine when this all happened. Oil came out fairly quick. Motor had 220K on it. Was a great runner until now...What say you all??
Agreed.
Find an F22B2 from an importer. If your car is a 96/97 make sure to get an engine that will work with those years, there are crank sensors that are not on the 94/95 engines. If it is a a 94/95 car you can use the 96/97 engine without issue.
Install a new timing belt kit/water pump on the replacement engine, adjust the valves, check the rear engine mount, and install.

I agree with swapping out the engine. You may be able to fix it and get it back up and running but it wont last long, the money you spend would be better directed at a new engine. I have one sitting in my garage that I would let go cheap if you are in Southern California. They are definitely not rare motors.
