Who knows any good quality tail lights that don't leak?
I bought some Spec-D taillights for my 95 Civic EG HB. They are red/clear. I love the look. Unfortunately, I thought my friend sealed them pretty well with silicone and I'm just noticing now both outer tail lights have water droplets in them.
Does anyone know of a higher quality brand of tail light that doesn't leak or require sealing out of the box? I'd prefer not to go back to OEM because I can't stand the color.

Every single set of aftermarket non depot brand headlights I've used have poor silicon seals. They all require an extra going over before you put them in.

Update:
I'm unsure if my taillights are actually leaking, or it's a problem with the body of my car. I noticed that the tail light foam gaskets are not getting wet in a rain storm, but I am accumulating water in the spare tire region. I actually was able to see water trickling down from a seam that was silicone next to where the taillight bolts come through the body. It's in the furthest corner of the rear on the passenger side. It's kind of like a little crevasse in the body. In the photo I posted below (not mine) it's the passenger tail light, but closest to the outer-side of the body. I'm not too sure, but I think what I'm trying to say is that it's the seam/weld where the quarter panel meets the main body next to the tail light area?

You know, that's funny. I have a 95 Hatch and I was just attempting to swap the side marker bulbs of the tail lights with LEDs and I noticed the same leak on the seam but on the Drivers side. I haven't checked my spare tire but I have confirmed with all the massive rain that the Spyder smoked tail lights don't leak and are very good, do take a touch of wiring, and my spec-d tuning projector headlight lenses haven't leaked and are very good. Their weakness is the halos suck ***** but everything else about them is pretty good quality.
So yeah, I have that same rear seam seal leak on the hatchback right to the outside of the taillight metal frame/box/housing that the taillight bolts to.
Now I get to wait until its a dry day, spray it down with brake cleaner and then use some seam sealer on it.

Interesting that I'm not the only one with this problem :D! I'm going to take my car to my body shop on Friday, and see what he can do. Other than that, I really like the spec-d headlight / corner lights & the tail lights. The tail lights did get foggy / hazy from condensation, but I have a suspicion it's the result of a bad sealing job someone did on them. It could also be that the extra water in the corner just adds to the condensation since it's close to the housing. Who knows?
Re: Who knows any good quality tail lights that don't leak?
An update, the spec-d tuning headlights finally started to fog tonight. They are missing a clip on each one and I still need to rip them open to do something with the halo's so I wasn't overly worried about them. I'll seal them with some quality sealant after I am done.
Re: Who knows any good quality tail lights that don't leak?
I would try new tail light gaskets. I went from 3 inches of water in spare tire well after a week out of the garage to a completely dry trunk with $25 tail light gaskets. I bought em for my 97 Integra and solved my problems. I had OEM ones originally that worked fine with APC brand lights but leaked horribly when I put OEM tails back in for some reason. Looks like they have some available for Civics too: http://stores.ebay.com/Detroit-Muscl...nda+tail+light
If they don't have what you need you could try OEM. Should be fine, but you may need to replace them in 10 years.
Re: Who knows any good quality tail lights that don't leak?
At least in my car, the gaskets are 100% dry during a rainstorm. So, I'm pretty sure a new gasket for me wouldn't solve the problem. I made an appointment with my bodyshop guy. He knows exactly what to do with that body weld seam. He told me he was going to grind it down and reseal it. I'm looking forward to the results. A friend of a friend was the one who sealed my leak with silicone. He did a horrible job... He's also the one who sealed the tail light and those leaked too. Luckily I started over and have a fresh pair of lights now that I need to seal.
