Going up hill on the highway in my 2001 Manual civic ex I was in cruise control and I attempted to gas to get out of cruise control. Once I hit the gas pedal while in gear the speedometer started dropping and the gear wouldn't catch. I can switch gears without pushing in the clutch but no speedometer.

Not sure if this info is related:

Weeks prior I was hearing an inconsistent knocking sound. Tried to have a few people look but nothing was found. (When I had my dad come and look at the car on the side of the highway he said it looked like a bolt fell out, not sure if it's related)

Also weeks prior when I started the car the Rpms would shoot up never happened before this

Are you sure you weren't referring to the tachometer and not the speedometer ? The tachometer is the "rpm's gauge", the speedometer is the "mph's gauge"

 

The Rpms will move but not the speedometer
