Default Brake pedal sinks an inch at traffic lights. Should I be concerned?

Hi,

The past week I noticed that when I come to a complete stop at a red light, the brake pedal sinks about an inch (give or take a bit). This doesn't happen all the time, though. In fact, I'd say it happens maybe once every 7 to 10 times a stop. The car remains still and I don't feel in danger. However, I was wondering if this may lead to something worse in the future. This never happened before.

I'd also like to note, that the brake power (if the makes sense) feels fine. I did a little check on the brake pads and rotors, and they seem to be in good shape. Also, I'd like to note that I brake gently and that I come to a soft stop, and so far I haven't noticed this occur the few times I do brake hard.

Thanks for any help!

By the way, the brake pedal has been soft ever since I bought the car. I'm not sure if that's an issue. I haven't driven many cars, but my parents car's brake pedal is much more firm (and to be honest, the firm pedal feels better than my soft pedal).

If the pedal feels soft that means you have air in your brake lines. This can be fixed by bleeding the brakes

Your master cylinder needs replacement.

You must bench bleed it before installation.

That will solve the sinking pedal.

If you still have soft pedal, bleed again. 2 person method is best. Just find anyone with 1 working leg to help....

If you still have soft pedal, calipers or rear cylinder may need rebuilding, replacing.
