2000 Honda Civic EX 198000 miles

About 2 months ago lights would start flickering intermittently
and go away before I could measure any voltages at the battery.

I seems to last about 2 minutes and goes away.
It would do it in the morning or afternoon at various outside temps

Today the flickering is worst and the SRS light goes on and off.

I have about a ten minute drive from work and the flickering was
less severe and the SRS light is staying off now.

I measured battery at this time it was only slight flickering
14.14 no load
13.6 load high beams, ac on.

Fuse 15 7.5A is good.

I did see other posts and seems to be alternator.

Any thoughts Thanks

 

Took to Advanced auto to voltage(no load and load) and diode(ripple) testing and they
both tested good. We post the results later.
The lights had very minimal flicking when tested.

Their tester did not have a current testing feature.
Does anyone know if any other parts place has current testing?

Drove in this morning to work no issues, outside temp 81F

Does the engine harness TSB apply for 2000 vehicles?
I only found the 99-029 for earlier years.

Tighten the alternator belt, and the bolts that secure the alternator to the mounting brackets.

 

Also, ground cable ever been replaced? I had so many electrical problems, someone recommended to change battery ground cable and that solved all my issues with dimming of lights, and other weird odds and ends.

Results from testing at Advanced Auto



Fuse 15 voltage 13.9 on both side of fuse.
Alternator belt was already very tight checked bottom bolt,

I have not replaced the ground cable it is not dropping
any voltage across it.

I cleaned the battery posts and clamps; clean the ground cable
and removed some paint to make sure it is making good
connection.
Also clean the ground cable that attaches on the driver side front frame
to steering pump bracket.

Checked voltage at battery and stud on alternator engine off 12.80V both ends.

 

There's also a top mount bolt and a bolt that secures the top mount to the engine.

 

zturek...any updates on your issues? I would like to know if you figured out the cause. I have all the same problems!

 

Please PM the user. I know it's only been a year but the user may not be frequenting the site anymore. PM is a much better way to see if the user is still active.

 

Cleaned all of the ground connections on the battery and engine bay grounding straps.
That fixed the major flickering with SRS

I have one that is some minor flickering that shows up on the headlights mainly when it is cold and going through
engine warm up. It usually only last about 30 seconds and I am waiting until it gets colder to see if it comes back
so I can troubleshoot it.

 

During the cold weather when the intermittent flickering came back I had the alternator replaced and it got rid of the problem.
