What are my options if I want to put an LSD in a B16a tranny or 92-93 integra tranny? Would a type-R LSD fit in it?

Just buy a JDM J1 or YS1 LSD equipped tranny.

 

Yeah, but those aren't cable trannies, I don't think I want to convert to hydro.

 

actually both of the trannies listed above are cable trannies.
i personally used to have a Kaaz LSD installed in a JDM S1 until it died on me. since then i just switched the Kaaz unit into my 93 GSR trans and it fit fine. i just pulled the LSD from my JDM tranny (including the Ring Gear) and it just dropped right in. and bearing clearance was in spec to boot.

so basically, get an LSD made for a B-series cable tranny and use IT.

So an LSD made for a hydro tranny, say a type-R tranny, wouldn't fit a B16a1 cable tranny, right?

are you asking about using an ITR LSD??

well my Kaaz LSD dropped into my 93 GSR trans, so the ITR LSD should drop in also. BUT from what i have read you have to use the ITR ring gear with the LSD because the bolt pattern is different than other b-series trannies. and i believe using the ITR ring gear is a problem for JDM cable trannies that were 89-91 (ie. S1/Y1/J1). wish i knew more about it.

IMO you should stick with an LSD made for a cable trans.

 

So which are those? Which model trannies? On which cars? I really have no clue about all this...

 

i just bought a quaife lsd for a cable b trans. it was 795 plus shipping($3.95!) from neil at more power racing

 

i have a y1 LSD tranny for sale, the shift fork needs work but the lsd is in perfect condition and could be swapped over if you don't feel like working on the tranny. asking only 500$ for the whole tranny! let me know if you're interested.
