Default Del Sol - high mileage oil or not?

I am a complete noob! I'm getting my hands dirty with a '94 Honda Del Sol and am changing out fluids. The previous owner said it has Mobil synthetic 5w30 oil her whole life. Should I get the high mileage version or not? The Del Sol has 90,000 miles. Thanks!

If the engine was maintained properly, you should be OK with just the 5w30. I have a 95 del sol si with 137k, and I always use Mobil 1 synthetic 5w30 and premium gas and it runs great. Most high mileage oils use a "seal conditioner" in the blend to help prevent leaks.

switching from syn to dino is usually frowned upon. i never intentionally use high mileage oil, my cars get whatever's on sale (track car excluded.)

Stick with 5w30 synthetic.

Its just oil. Use whatever 5W30 you want, unless you're using the car for some specific, outstanding purpose or operating condition. Track use, turbo charging, extended drain intervals, etc.

"Spirited driving" doesn't count as a special use.

For normal use, go with synthetic, "synthetic", dinosaur, high mileage, grape jam. Whatever.

Believe it or not...the D/B series isn't exactly a highly sophisticated machine that will respond in some dramatic way to a certain type of oil.

I can think of ONE (maybe 2) honda automotive engines that had some sort of special oil requirement. Not even the NSX's titanium internal'd C series needed anything special.

It's not recommended. 5w30 is best for these old cars.

One tidbit missing in old replies. The high mileage oil tends to have a higher zinc content to help with wear as far as I know know.
