Default Electircal wiring and fuses; 12V cigarette lighter

So my 12V outlet in my del Sol is acting up, won't charge my phone and barely lights a cigarette. I've read somewhere that you can bump the fuse up, say from the 15 amp to a 20 amp, because older car lighters were only designed to light cigs, not charge phones and stuff. Is there any truth to this? If so, any tips on rewiring/replacing the cigarette lighter?

I'm putting in a headlight warning in the fuse box, so i figured I could get this knocked out at the same time. Found the headlamp buzzer instructions no prob, but I can't find the one for the lighter.

No truth to that at all, changing the fuse will not supply any more power to a lighter.

If a lighter is not getting hot enough it is because it is releasing too soon or the lighter itself is N/G.

Try this, hold the lighter in place after it pops out for a few min. longer, if it then heats up enough adjust the bimetal "holders" at bottom of lighter housing, or just replace the lighter housing.

As a phone charger needs far less power to work, changing the fuse will not make any diff. there either.

The charger problem is more then likely a "fit/contact" problem, the charger lighter adapter is not making proper contact with either the pos.(+) or neg.(-) inside the lighter housing, you need to test the output of the charger to see what is missing.

Never replace a fuse with a bigger one, it can result in your car burning to the ground. 94

Awesome, so I just need a new one-of-these and I'm good to go?

Yep, that will solve the lighter issue, but may not solve the charger issue, as that is more of a problem with the lighter plug adapter for the charger. 94
