Hello Honda-Tech Members
I recently bought a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback that I was really happy with the purchase. The car had a lot of custom work done to it, and I liked the Edelbrock manifold and Scat throttle body on the engine. The only issue, which the seller fully disclosed, is that when the engine is warm, the accelerator surges at idle. I replaced the IACV and did my best to bleed the cooling system. I tested the TSP and the reading was .5v with the throttle closed and 4.5 volts fully open. The idle still continued to surge. Out of desperation, I replaced the TSP.
Then, of course, the symptoms get worse. I had a jumper lead dangling from the end of my multimeter that I forgot to disconnect. I was going to test the volts on the TSP but I figured I would do a 12V check on the battery to make sure I had everything dialed in correctly on the meter.
During this process, m
y dangling jumper wire arced on my intake manifold. The surging idle RPM's have not stopped but I think the engine is running rich now, because of the smell. I now have a check engine light on.
What to do now? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
