It's a 2001 Accord, i'm trying to solve this issue for a friend of mine. He was driving it, and it I guess out of nowhere it started this noise. He mentioned a brief loss of power, but who knows if that actually happened or not. Compression is good, valve lash is good, lost motion assembly is good. I have a spare parts car, so i've been trying some parts off of it. I swapped the rockers, and nothing changed. Does anyone have a direction to go???? Oh, ya and it has 265K miles, and is super clean under the valve covers.

 

Oil level fine? Sounds like rod-knock.

 

That really does sound like rod knock. You should redo that compression test.

 

Defiantly not a rod knock, the noise is I think coming from the rear head. Oil level is fine.

 

Get a mechanics stethoscope and listen.

 

Check mechanical timing, if it happened suddenly, the timing belt may have skipped a tooth or two.

Possibly just needs a valve adjustment. 94
