Default Loud Knocking Noise? what do you think?

Theres a knocking noise coming from the Engine, cant really distinguish where its coming from exactly. Could it need a Valve Clearance adjustment? I just recently changed the timing belt, and the tensioners(i did the manual conversion). Could it be a bent valve or something? Is my best bet to do a Compression Test to see if i got any bent valves? About a week ago the car died and wouldnt start, but now it will. The engine isnt fluxiating.

If i were to record the sound could some one show me how i could post it on here? It will probably be a video with sound.

Are you running 91 octane on it?

A sound clip might help, is it throwing any dummy lights( CEL ,oil pressure) You may have spun a bearing, but thats jut a guess as vague as your description.

YEah..91 octane...but the gas is like 6 months old. Could that be a problem?

It sounds like it could be a spun bearing. Valvetrain should make more of a ticking noise than a knocking noise.

valve train will have tick or sound like a sewing machine. knock is usually bottom end. could be rod knock to to bearings, pins, piston/wall clearance, anything. its hard to tell by sound alone. deffinately run it dry and then put fresh gas in it. new age gas theoretically should NOT seperate but it still can because its not 100% stable. just start with gas, try a little octane booster and if thats the case see about your a/f ratio. it could be a number of things. see if you cant get someone to put a scan tool on it and see if theres a code in it.

Ok guys..I made an video clip with audio of the ticking noise in the engine. I need some one to help me out on how to post up VIDEOS. If some one could help me out it would be a great help.

SO i checked a few other things that could be making the ticking noise. I redid the valve clearance just to be sure. It wasnt that. Should i pull the oil pan to see if any metal shavings?

is the noise just at idle.... or does it increase with rpms?

I cant listen to it cause Im at school, but if its a knocking noise, im guessing its a spun bearing which means u need a new engine/new bottom end/ a rebuild

well...ima actually to scared to turn the car on now so... but it does it when its at higher rpms too...
What are my options guys? And one option CANNOT be to toss the engine and get a new one. What are the cost on fixing this kind of problem? Any help would be appreciated thanks guys

I am by no means an expert, but it really sound like valvetrain to me!

I don't think that is a block issue!!

Listen to this!! This is rod knock I think!!

ok....well..what ill do is to a compression test. This should tell me if theres any problem with any of the valves right?

In my video compared to your video it seems to sound the same but the ticking noise on mine is louder.

yea, maybe! I couldn't here it though, prolly cause of you loud ticking!

I will keep you updated!

Looks like for now all I am getting is the new bearings, I may have to have the crank and rods ground too (if they are damaged). Other than that I will see as I go!

Ok guys..i finally got the time to try and find out what was wrong. So last night i got the energy to take the head off the block because i did a compression test and cyl #1 was at 120psi, while the rest were at 220. Ive got a couple pictures that i wanna show. Just of damage. Give me some ideas on what i can do know. I bent an Intake valve and theres a little scare on the piston. What can i do know? I was thinking of justreplacing the valve and grind down the abrasion on the piston? I was thinking of taking the head to a machine shop and letting them fix the damage. Give me some reasonable ideas on what i can do. Thanks
